EX Specials

New to KOF XIII is the ability to spend one Super Meter to use a powered up special move. Similar to the buffs found on EX Specials from Street Fighter, EX Specials in KOF typically feature buffs such as increased startup speed, increased damage, the addition of invulnerability, and extended possibilities to juggle.

Most special moves have an EX variety, which can be executed by pressing both punch or kick buttons simultaneously instead of one. For example the EX version of Kyo's Oniyaki (dp+P) is executed as dp+AC.

For the expense of two Super Meters one can also execute an EX super.
